In a significant move to enhance inclusive healthcare, the Cantonment General Hospital in Prayagraj is set to establish a dedicated ICU for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries and a “Pink OPD” catering exclusively to women.
Focus on Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Defence and Directorate General Defence Estates, the hospital will create a separate ICU unit for patients enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, improving access to critical care for economically disadvantaged groups. This development ensures that beneficiaries receive specialized and prompt treatment without financial burden.
Launch of “Pink OPD” for Women
Recognizing the importance of women’s health and privacy in treatment, the hospital will also launch a Pink OPD, an initiative focused solely on women’s healthcare needs. This facility will have all-female staff, including doctors and nurses, and aims to create a comfortable, stigma-free environment for female patients to consult and receive treatment.
A Step Towards Inclusive Healthcare
Dr. Harshita Verma, the hospital’s in-charge, confirmed that these new facilities would begin functioning within the next 15 days. The Pink OPD and ICU are part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Defence to standardize healthcare delivery across cantonment hospitals and make it more accessible and gender-sensitive.
These developments signal a progressive shift in India’s healthcare landscape, ensuring equitable access and attention to underserved populations and women’s wellness.
