Korean tech giant strengthens healthcare ecosystem by integrating wearables and hospital systems
In a strategic move to deepen its presence in the digital health sector, Samsung Electronics announced the acquisition of Xealth, a US-based healthcare services platform, for an undisclosed amount. This marks Samsung’s most significant step yet into hospital-connected care services, complementing its existing suite of consumer health devices.
What is Xealth?
Xealth is a digital prescription platform used by over 500 US hospitals, including top health systems like Providence and Advocate Health. The platform allows clinicians to prescribe and monitor health apps, wearables, and remote monitoring solutions directly from electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Samsung’s Digital Health Vision
With this acquisition, Samsung plans to integrate its Galaxy Watch wearables and Samsung Health app into clinical workflows, enabling:
- Continuous remote patient monitoring (RPM) for chronic disease management
- Seamless sharing of health data with doctors
- Personalized health insights and alerts for patients and clinicians
